Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To hire a vehicle in Surrey, you must be at least 21 years old; note that age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid, full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category is required, held for the duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will also need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment details and a security deposit. Any further requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement must be met.
Booking and Payment Options
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or at our Surrey office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon collection of the vehicle. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Surrey, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. We will complete a vehicle condition report that requires your signature. Upon returning the vehicle, please ensure it is in the same condition as when you collected it, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur charges. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional fees, so please notify us promptly if you anticipate a delay. You will be liable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, as well as an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- Basic third-party insurance is included with every rental in Surrey. Full details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in your Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review all insurance options thoroughly. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless additional insurance is obtained. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of your insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses for Rental Vehicles
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in hazardous endeavors. Transporting dangerous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. Vehicles should only be used for their intended purposes, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Additionally, driving outside designated geographical areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Surrey will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our maximum liability for any claim is capped at the total rental amount you paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraudulent activities.
9. Local Legal Guidelines
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
